Are you in the market for new windows, roofing, insulation or other property improvements? Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland offers a Home Repair Loan Program to help you with energy efficient repairs, saving you money and substantially upgrading your home.

Our home repair loan program gives homeowners the extra attention needed when starting a rehab project. NHS of Greater Cleveland can assist you with job specifications, cost estimates, contractor selection, and oversight of your project. NHS of Greater Cleveland provides a mortgage product that is affordable and accessible to many of those who may not be able to access conventional lending products.

Cleveland Home Repair Loan Programs – Download this special guide to programs available to Cleveland residents and investors. Includes program information from the City of Cleveland, local nonprofits and local lenders!

City of Cleveland Lead Hazard Control Program – Residents of the City of Cleveland living in older homes with children 6 years of age or younger and whose incomes are included in the guidelines below may participate in this program. Landlords are required to pay a minimum of $600 towards the cost of the project. Download an application here.

Housing Enhancement Loan Program (HELP) – The Home Enhancement Loan Program (HELP) provides homeowners of occupied or investment properties in eligible Cuyahoga County communities home improvement loans, at three percentage points below normal bank rates, for home repair or remodeling projects. HELP has no restrictions on a borrower’s income and few limitations on what improvements can be made to a property. Applications are available at any bank branch of these participating banks: Key Bank and Huntington Bank. Neighborhood Historic Preservation and Heritage Home Programs –  These programs are administered by the Cleveland Restoration Society. The loans are not subject to income guidelines and can be used for owner-occupied as well as non-owner occupied homes.

Senior Homeowner Assistance Program (SHAP) – SHAP provides grants to Cleveland residents age 60+ or disabled adults who meet income eligibility guidelines and own single or two family homes in need of critical, health, safety and maintenance repairs. Applicants must live in the property in question and be able to show clear title. Proof of address (mortgage, insurance, utility bill, etc.), photo ID, and proof of income are required.
